March Bulletin of Updates
Dear LAS Alumni,
Welcome to this brief and simple March bulletin of updates from LAS. We hope you enjoy receiving it and intend to send it only every few months. Please feel free to pass it on.

The winter in Leysin has been cold and it remains so with temperatures today still well below zero! The students have enjoyed a good ski season and are making the most of the last couple of weeks before Spring break.

New Alumni Association
After years of LAS former students leaving LAS and making their own contacts with old school friends, we are now formalizing the alumni network. We are creating the LAS Alumni Association and developing a structure that will include committee representatives of alumni around the world. Jeff Jones who left LAS in 1978 has accepted our invitation to become the inaugural President of the Association. Anyone interested in taking an active role, please contact Jeff (jwam767@aol.com) or myself (imclean@las.ch)

London Drinks in January
A terrific evening was had by the 26 former students who attended the Union Bar in London on 28 January this year. I was pleased to host the gathering and it was great to meet so many alumns from different parts of the world, all who were either studying, working in or visiting London. Many were surprised but thrilled that Fred Sharp was also able to attend and he stayed on for another day to meet a few who could not make the event.

50th Anniversary Celebrations
Later this year the School will celebrate 50 years with a number of dinners for alumni and current families. The official 50th Anniversary Gala Dinner will be held here at LAS in the Belle Epoque (formerly The Grand Hotel) on Thursday 7 October 2010. There are only limited places so it will be necessary to book a place very early if you would like to attend. Other dinners will be held around the world in London, Moscow, the Middle East, New York, the West Coast USA, Mexico, Brazil with more details to be announced in due course. Please contact us if you would like to help plan one of these dinners.

Annual Fund Projects 2010
A couple of weeks ago the School launched the 2010 Annual Fund with a mailing to our alumni. This is an invitation for everyone connected to the School to make a small contribution towards various projects that can make a big difference to what we can offer current and future students. The information is on http://www.las.ch/alumni/support-the-foundation.html, so please have a look and if you can help, we will be most grateful for your support. The projects this year include support for more scholarships, a Science Observatory, Digital Imaging Technology, Sports activities and Theatre & Projection equipment.
Please help current & future students enjoy an even better LAS !

Lost LAS Alumni – please help us find them!
Our Alumni Relations office at LAS is busy every day tracking the whereabouts of our former students but we have a long way to go to know who is where, what they are doing and how to contact them. We do have our School managed database but rely heavily on Facebook and your word of mouth. If you are able to help pass this email on to others or let us know any information about yourself or others, please do get in touch with us at alumni@las.ch

Summer in Switzerland Program
We are now taking applications for our Summer in Switzerland (SIS) program for ages 8-19. We offer two sessions of three consecutive weeks, with the optional Recreation and Culture week between the two sessions. Students have the opportunity to participate for two to seven weeks.

Students attend classes in the mornings and participate in afternoon activities. The classes we offer include ESL, SAT/ACT preparation, IB-prep courses, French and Spanish and many others. On the weekends there are all-day excursions to different locations in Switzerland.

We would love to welcome your children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters in our Summer Program with the offer of 15% discount for each of them.

For more information about SIS please go to www.las.ch/summer.

I am looking forward to meeting many of you at one or more of the upcoming reunions, especially the Las Vegas event which promises to be a beauty!

Warm wishes

Ian McLean
